The Rural Spark TV & Fan Kit allows for rural villagers to generate energy and use it for a wide range of applications, including TV and Fan. The standard system configuration includes an advanced Rural Spark Energy Router, a energy-efficient 23,6" LED television, a 16" Fan, 4 Rural Spark Cubes that power the TV, and two bright, wired LED lights for multi-room lighting. The entire system is powered with 2 40W panels. Also, it comes with the Rural Spark Service Platform that allows for monitoring monthly payments using the Rural Spark prepaid system.
The standard system can of course be configured differently, for example by adding additional Rural Spark Cubes (modular battery packs) to increase the hours villagers can enjoy watching TV or other energy consuming applications.

The Rural Spark energy kit is a high quality energy solution. Customers become local energy suppliers who sell the energy to their fellow villagers, becoming resilient entrepreneurs. The Rural Spark kit configuration is customisable, including options to add a second solar panel or increase/decrease the number of applications per kit. Additional cubes allow for increase energy storage (and/or selling energy surpluses) and thus for powering a TV or Fan at night, for example. Typically, villagers start using the Energy Kit, providing energy for their fellow villagers and upgrade to TV and/or Fan over time. Local Energy Suppliers can change the configuration of their kit anytime.
Energy is stored in Rural Spark Share Cubes. These modular battery packs store surpluses of energy that can be used to power applications later when no energy is generated (e.g. on a cloudy day in case of solar) or the demand is higher (e.g. people want to watch an important cricket- match on TV).
The Spark Station is activated by entering an automatically generated code after payment. The Spark Station indicates when the Local Energy Supplier runs out of balance, warning in advance, triggering action. After topping up (paying the instalment) another activation code is generated to re-activate the Spark Station for the period payed for.
Modularity allows for flexible storage capacity to fit the energy demand. Even more important, they can be traded, allowing to trade energy between Local Energy Suppliers increasing efficiency and reliability. Linking different energy sources will be the first step towards rural smart grids.

A Range of Applications
Rural Spark provides energy access in a scalable form into the houses. Rather than 'a solar lamp' or 'home lighting kit', Rural Spark managed to provide a more general 'access to electricity' tool.
The Spark Station can power any USB powered or 12V powered application. A Rural Spark Energy Kit comes with a USB to mobile phone converter which fits all common phones.
Rural Spark's Energy Kit comes with a solar panel, which can be connected to one of the three 17V ~ 24V DC inputs. The Spark Station had Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) built in to make the most use of the solar energy.
Rural Spark Service Platform
The Rural Spark Service Platform supports the complete value chain. This online tool tracks & triggers payments, activates systems, provides service, offers marketing opportunities and makes the money flow transparent for distribution partners.
The service, monitoring, managing and retail platform works together with the Rural Spark Spark Station and your existing infrastructure. This platform facilitates marketing campaigns, pre-paid payments, changes in subscriptions and other customer facing interactions through sms and phone and gives real-time insights to management.
